Commission initiates business outreach on supply chains

The Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking is taking forward its supply chain recommendations. The work will be led by Alan Jope (formerly Unilever), Vindi Banga (UKGI) and John Schultz ( Executive Vice President and Chief Operating & Legal Officer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise), This work will play a central role in strengthening private sector engagement and advancing efforts to tackle modern slavery and human trafficking globally.

Commission meeting and visit to Geneva, Switzerland
July 2025
Commissioners from the Global Commission for Modern Slavery visited Geneva this month to strengthen partnerships with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and other UN agencies working to end forced labour and human trafficking. The visit formed part of the Commission's commitment to advancing multilateral cooperation and implementing the recommendations from its newly launched report.

Commission visit to Bahrain

The Commission held a series of impactful meetings in Bahrain to explore the nation's approach to protecting migrant workers. Commissioners visited the Expat Protection Centre which provided insights into Bahrain's protective measures including recent innovations such as providing workers with digital IBANs and cellphones to enhance their access to financial services.

Global Commission seeks stakeholder input on recommendations
The Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking convened a virtual stakeholder meeting in January 2025, to gather feedback on its emerging recommendations ahead of its report launch in April. Chaired by Baroness May, the meeting addressed key workstreams including national legislation, civil society in crisis contexts, and supply chains.
